How Oui Doux: Birthdays
Our youngest boy, Paris turned 6 yesterday! With 5 kids, there's a born-day popping up every couple of months, so we've always had a pretty laid-back approach to birthday celebrations: 1) In our house, it's typically an intimate, at-home, family shindig. 2) The birthday boy always gets a whole box of his favorite cereal , which is serious currency among the Furious Five. 3) He gets to take the "day off": no chores or homework. 4) He gets his favorite meal (usually pizza). 4) We don't go crazy with the gifts- there's usually one thing from Mom & Dad, and another gift that all of the brothers picked out. 5) Finally, we're BIG on toys. That's right! good, old-fashioned, toys that spark their creative imaginations. After all, how can we expect them to create, if they never learn to really play?
Fortunately, Paris is easy to please. A true cartoon/comic lover, action figures are his thing. This guy always comes with the illest sound effects.
The most important thing for us is to make sure that each kid is individually acknowledged and celebrated for their awesomeness. This year, the big brothers honored his request for his favorite Transformers toy. Nana sent some authentic cowboy boots just in time for our trip to Nashville. But nothing was a match for Mom & Dad's big reveal: VOLTRON.
Huge dose of nostalgia. We were just as stoked as he was. Keeping it simple, once again, has proven to be a winner for OuiDoux. Happy Birthday, P-Funk!
